The day-to-day running of the business should be easy after all the hard work you've put in until now. It's when everything starts getting exciting, as you start to see your company really operating like, well, a real company!
The most important thing to remember about running a small business is to always provide the best customer service possible. If your customer calls, answer the phone straight away. If they email, reply to their email promptly. If they have a complaint, fix it, quickly. Your goal should be to give them the best possible experience. Good customer service not only makes you proud of your own company, it also results in the customer telling their friends about you too... this is called word-of-mouth advertising, and it's one of the most powerful tools in making a successful business.
A very important thing to do is to keep a notepad in your pocket at all times. Running your own small business is exciting - you'll find yourself thinking about it most of the time, even when you're doing something else. In case you have any bright ideas, take a call while you're on-the-go, or suddenly remember something you have to do, it's essential to write these things down straight away. That way, you never need to worry about forgetting anything, and it also allows you to keep your head completely free, to think about other good ideas! Each night, when you get home, transfer all your notes onto your computer (ie. into a Word .doc, or scheduling software), and set a date when you plan to handle them - keeping a schedule is the ONLY way to get everything organised and done!
Also remember to keep your accounts in order - if you took my advice and contacted Dean, I'm sure he's run through with you exactly what you should be doing to stay on top of all accounting-related things.
Apart from this, in the early days of running your business, you should be able to stay on top of things in only a few hours (if that) each day. If you need any help, or have any problems, Contact us anytime and we'll do our best to help out!
